i got the coolest birthday present ever...a rogue wave. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rogue_wave
it was absolutely insane. men live on the sea their whole life without seeing one. i myself have spent many a day and night living on the ocean. i have seen waves that struck fear into my core, but this was an awesome phenomenon. it´s just a shame i didn´t catch it on camera. the cause was undoubtedly diffractive focusing. ¨the coast shape or seabed shape directs several small waves to meet in phase. their crest heights combine to create a rogue wave.¨ the swells were very high that day, but this wave was around 10 meters. it was white capped out at sea in calm weather. it formed just after passing our boat and would have capsized us had it formed any sooner. it took less than five seconds for it to form out of nowhere, and then it crashed. the sound was awesome.
we caught many fish that day, and i had a great time doing some fixing up on the boat, splicing line, cleaning fish, tieing knots etc. overall a great birthday; it was one to remember.
and what else needs to be said about the cloud, ocean, and sky?
