i arrived at the school with Kim's bus full of kids who attend the school and waited in the office for the principal, Don Carlos. Soon, i was sitting with him in his "office" with Teacher D, the translator. The first thing he asked me for was my resume...which i did not have because i was just coming in to see about the position, not necessarily an interview or anything like that. Next, we were talking about where i was from, etc. Soon, we were talking about the open position....I told him i was interested in the position. Then, he asked how much i would want to be paid...which i had no idea! I told him i was here as a missionary, etc. Last, he asked me when i could start....and i said today!
the next thing i knew, i was visiting my first class of 4th graders. i am the english teacher for 4th grade and for the beginners class of middle schoolers grades 7-9. today, i mostly had the middle schoolers on my own...which will be more of a challenge than the younger ones. i will be traveling to their classrooms, so i wont have my own classroom...which is what all the specialty teachers do.
i cant believe it, really! the bonus was talking to Teacher D while Don Carlos was away for a moment. She was asking me about being a missionary, then come to find out she is a Christian too...which is as really cool and definitely confirmation! i am excited...and nervous....and will give more updates soon!
thank you for your prayers, they are working!!!
