we have a spare room where we keep our empty suitcases, books, and some clothes. in a week, there was mold growing already...and i knew i had to do something...but i hoped it would just go away with the use of the dehumidify option on the air conditioner.
the smell and mold came to a halt, and i hoped things were atleast not getting worse. however, i knew that soon i was going to have to wipe the mold off so it would not get worse. i was putting this off because it was going to be a pain....and i didnt want to do it.
i put it off for a month.
so, yesterday i got motivated to start cleaning in the spare room and checked my book bag first. not only was there mold...there were ants!! when i looked closer, there was eggs being nested all over the bag. little white spots just waiting for more ants to come! at first, i thought the white spots were mold, but no! it was gross. i carried the bag outside.
then, i started to look on the other shelves. yep, more ants! all over the bag with the sunscreen/bug sprays! good thing was, they werent in jared's shorts. again, tons of them.
i continued to clean out the ants, then wiped off all the luggage with mold. what job. my reward was swimming in the pool.
as i was cleaning the mold, i was reminded that i needed to do everything without complaining and doing it with joy....even cleaning after tons of ants! as i was walking up the hill to our apartment, i asked God what he was trying to teach me out of this whole mess, and i heard clearly about how i need to deal with sin in my life. if i wait to confess and repent (even when i know it is there) it will get worse... i will allow more sins and habits to form in my life. why do i, we, do this? we choose to ignore our sins and hope they will go away...which is the farthest thing from the truth. we have to deal with our sins right away. we have to humble ourselves before our Lord.
so, before you find an area in your life where mold and ants have started to inhabit, take a close look at your heart and do a deep clean.
"Dark is the stain that we cannot hide;
what can avail to wash it away?
Look! there is a flowing crimson tide--
whiter than snow you may be today.
Marvelous, infinite, matchless grace,
Freely bestowed on all who believe!
You that are longing
to see His face,
Will you this moment
His grace receive?"
- julia h. johnston
"let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need." hebrews 4:16

wow. what a clear example of what happens when we "ignore" sin. Thanks for sharing it! Blessings!
mold will keep growing even when it is ignored
