this past week has been a bit of a change of pace. i have been given a couple projects for an upcoming expo that will be taking place here in manuel antonio in about 3 weeks. the projects include making a slideshow presentation (which i will try to upload to the blog once it's complete) and a handout including information about the center, in spanish and english. and if i could figure out how to put pdf files on this blog, i could show you the handout as well.
a little while back, i was stung by what i think was a scorpion. i didn't get a real good look at it, just felt something big crawling around in my shorts, and then before i get get it out, ouch. it swelled up really big getting worse for about 4 days. the thing about it was that i was driving the motorcycle when this happened. i felt like something was crawling around, but of course, i dismissed it as the wind blowing in my shorts as drove eileen to work. i am very thankful that even though i was scared and it hurt very badly (worse than any other sting i've ever experienced, including jelly fish) i was able to continue to drive safely with eileen riding behind. as i was using my left hand to remove the unwanted visitor from my shorts, i saw something black and maybe the size of a silver dollar. at first i thought of it as a large wasp or something, as i was driving and didn't get a good look at it, but the texture didn't line up. it seemed to me to have a very durable exoskeleton. anyway, very thankful that everything turned out ok. i was one day away from going to the hospital. if it would've got worse on the fifth day, i was planning on going to the hospital. everything is fine now.
