eileen is finally here. look, there´s some evidence. i have had this week off from work other than working with the guys to set up and tear down at the feria friday and saturday. the feria, or market is a place that our guys work and, in return, get some food for the week. we are also hired by a local to clean up after the market and we get paid for that.
the picture above is at manuel antonio national park, which i wrote about a little more in detail the last post. we spent half the day hiking and half the day on the beach. we had great fun in the water.
here´s a little slothy sloth and her baby sloth, just hangin from a tree. below is herms; we named him. eileen was amazed by the number of hermit crabs around. she liked the fact that all their little shells were different. she was scared to touch them.
eileen had her birthday this past wednesday. we went on a sunset sail that afternoon and evening. it was extremely enjoyable. we saw dolphins, birds, and the ocean. eileen wouldn´t go snorkeling because she is my little scaredy cat. the sunset was great. we have made it a habit to watch the sunset every night; we´ve missed only one or two.
it sprinkled for a moment, and then we saw a full, triple rainbow.
this next sunset was spent on cocal. it is a little island just off of quépos. just a short twenty cent or 100€ ferry ride and you´re there, no more than one minute. it is very nice because it is much quieter than quépos. it is also much poorer, but eileen and i feel that it suits us better. there is a very good possiblity that this is where we will live when we move down here together. it is cheap to get land and to build a house. i´ve always wanted to build my own house.
we spent a little time getting dominated by the waves. they are very big in cocal; the beach is very long and steep. eileen was scared, again. she´s right here now, next to me, saying, "yeah, because i was gonna get killed." she´s so cute.
anyway, here´s our sunset picture that we took on cocal. just like the little hermie shells, no two sunsets are ever the same, i guess that´s true with a lot of things in nature.
this next picture was taken at a restaurant. it´s called barba roja, which means red beard. the pirate on the sign has a red beard, so, naturally, i like the place. anyway, it has the best sunset view in town, and at that time of day, the weather is just perfect.
here are a couple other pictures of the sunset. don´t know why, but the sun looks huge sometimes. this was not one of those times.
this next paragraph is written by eileen.
hello :) it has been great to be here. people have asked me if i like it here....well, of course i like it....but i cant really explain it. it just feels right to be here, to be here with jared. its good that both of us feel a peace about being here. we have had a great time together.....and realizing that we are still on our honeymoon really. its called lunamiel here.
i have met all the guys in the program, the stilwell family and some other of jared´s friends/aquaintances. one night, we made dinner for jimy and his wife, who is about to have her 4th child in a week or so. it was fun to cook together. that has been enjoyable for me. i like to cook and it has been fun to do that together....like breakfast, etc. jared is a very good cook. we are good combination in the kitchen. our favorite thing to eat has been avocado sandwiches.
i think i am fitting in well in the community here, considering i have only been here a week. on sunday, there was a baby shower held for jimy´s wife, vanessa at a hotel here. laura and jared began planning it and i helped out as well. it was fun, i like to do that sort of thing. it turned out to be a great party.
my mom is flying here on friday...that should be fun.
we are having a great time together. i am looking foward to finishing school so we can be together physically on a more permenant basis.
and if you are wondering, i love jared´s beard. and no, he didnt make me say that.
thank you very much for your prayers and support. you are helping us greatly in starting our life together.
