eileen's weekend

on friday night, i took a red eye from seattle to indianapolis to surprise my grandpa for his 75th birthday surprise party.  my grandma planned a surprise party (his bday was in april) for all of our family to attend.  my brother flew out from pensacola, (he's in the navy and it is hard for him to get away to see family) and i came out too.  it was neat because my grandpa did not know about any of this...and all of our family was going to be together (which is a miracle in itself).

my brother surprised my grandpa at breakfast, and i surprised him by showing up to perry middle school, where my cousin emily was playing in the state basketball tournament! it was cool to be back at my middle school....pretty funny.

i bet my grandpa was very curious to know why will and i flew all the way out for emily's games.  he had no idea...even though we were there.  when we left the game, he asked if we were going to be able to see each other before i left...and i said that i didnt know what my plans were.  as far as he knew, he was going to dinner with my parents.

that night, we all showed up at his favorite restaurant and he was surprised!  he said it was the most surprised he has been in his life.  i thought it was when i called him to ask him to marry me with 3 days notice....maybe he wouldnt used the word "surprised" to describe that :)

here are some pictures from the night...

after the party, i rode back to chicago with my parents.  i decided to go to chicago for a few days to organize all my things, clean out my stuff in storage...before jared and i would need to move our stuff.  well, i had a lot of stuff to go through!  i ended up donating about 5 large plastic tubs of stuff filled with books to dresses from high school dances.

one of my motivations to go through all my stuff was to find old pictures or letters from jared.  i found another one of his high school pictures with a note on the back!  it said, "thanks for being a friend. have a good year.  heart, jaredpaulcantrell."  i also found a letter from 2001!! yay!! that was a great find.  i wonder why i kept those :) that shows a lot!! :)  i am glad i keep some things.

a few more weeks until jared returns to the states.  he will be able to spend a couple weeks with me in seattle as i finish up my program there and then i graduate!  yay!  i am looking forward to my first summer together with my husband....as we prepare our ministry for costa rica.  thank you for your prayers!
