yesterday was our one year anniversary, and just like one year ago, the weather was perfect. we wanted to do something special, we just didn't know exactly what on our small budget. early that morning, we got a message from jared's parents saying they put some money in our bank account so we could celebrate! what a blessing!
that morning, i fixed some egg in a holes, and we walked into town together since our motorcycle was getting some work done. jared went to the center and i went to Pali, the Wal Mart of Costa Rica,to pick up some food for lunch, nachos, a favorite meal of ours. being a wal mart, you never know what else will be hiding in the shelves. this time, i found a small cake decorating set with different tips and a nice spatula. at a store closer to home, i also picked up some coke for jared for another little treat.
when i got home, i planned to roll out some cookie dough to bake him some special anniversary cookies. he came back home about 1/2 way through the process, but, it was still a surprise. the decorating tips worked great.
we chopped ingredients for nachos together, which was fun for me. i like cooking with someone else, especially jared. i never was really big on nachos before, but here, all the ingredients are so fresh, it's hard to resist: guacamole, salsa, beans with cheese, and lettuce. we put them all in separate bowls and ate up.
jared made a phone call after lunch to see if he could get off work that afternoon, and he did! we went to pick up the bike, and we rode to manuel antonio. i wanted to go kayaking together, something different. we rented some chairs on the beach for an hour, then went on a 2 person kayak. when we were renting the kayak, the guy mentioned snorkeling would be included. at first, i was a little freaked out since i am mildly afraid of fish...ok, they freak me out. but, i figured i would try it.
we kayaked out to 2 islands called the "twins" and tied our boat up so we could snorkel. it took me 2 tries to really do it and not be too scared. we saw lots of fish, and they were very close to us. it was pretty cool.
we returned back to shore, drove back to quepos and got ready. i had bible study, and we had a meeting afterwards. laura had another meeting at bible study, so i was the translator, which was a good experience for me.
after a church meeting after study, we headed off to dinner at a place called Kapi Kapi. it was very nice and relaxing with great food. it was a late meal for us and we were both very tired.
we have been thinking about how blessed we are to have eachother and how God has blessed our relationship. we are also very thankful for your love and support as well. we realize we couldnt be here without so many friends like yourselves.
there are lots of things happening here, it seems like some changes are around the corner. please keep this ministry God has called us to in your prayers. thank you!
